Sunflower Plants Care
As the sunflowers become established they can be watered once a week.
Sunflower plants care. Give them the right soil make sure that you loosen up the soil two feet down and three feet wide where you are planning on planting. They can even tolerate dry poor rocky sandy and clay soils. Mix about 3 inches of rich potting soil into your garden s native soil. Sunflower seedlings should be watered daily so the soil is moist but not soaked. Plant sunflowers where they ll get plenty of direct sunlight they are called sunflowers after all. To care for sunflowers plant them 1 inch deep after the last frost and in loamy soil with good drainage and full sun. The most lethal danger to sunflowers from the weather is the wind.

Low varieties of annual sunflower are also suitable for pots on the balcony. If you wish you can plant multiple seeds and thin them to the strongest contenders when the plants are six inches tall. Give plants plenty of room especially for low growing varieties that will branch out. For very small varieties plant closer together.
Be sure the spot gets 6 8 hours of direct sunlight each day. All sunflowers are excellent cut flowers. Sunflowers should be planted 1 to 1 inches deep and about 6 inches apart after the soil has thoroughly warmed. Fast growing they can reward you with glamorous blooms between 55 and 100 days after planting depending on the variety grown.
Alternatively for seed saving cut them when the petals are leaning outward. If you want to harvest the flowers to keep in a vase cut them when the petals are perpendicular to the central disk so they will last longer. They are exceptionally care free plants if they are given a well chosen site. However they prefer average well draining soil with a neutral soil ph for optimal growth.
Cherished for their beauty sunflowers helianthus are striking ornamental annuals or perennial plants grown for their colorful summer and fall blooms. The annual sunflower is also often planted as a green fence. Sunflowers are mostly planted in farmer gardens but also in prairie beds with other north american prairie perennials and grasses. The goal is to have roughly six to eight hours a day of direct sunlight.
Doing so will feed the seeds and ensure that the plants have strong roots so they can grow large healthy blooms.
